What are Buttweld Pipe Fittings?
Buttweld pipe fittings are a type of pipe fitting that connects two pipes in such a way that the size, shape, and flow direction of the pipes can be changed. They are used in a variety of applications, including plumbing, heating, and cooling systems. The fittings are made from a variety of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and alloy steel.
Types of Buttweld Pipe Fittings

Buttweld Pipe Fittings come in a variety of types:
- Elbow : Changes the direction of the fluid in the piping system. The Elbow has long radius (LR) and a short radius (SR) , and has different degrees covers to: 45 degree, 90 degree and 180 degree.
- Tee : Connects three flow sections in a T-shape. Tees are used to combine or split a fluid flow. Types of Tee are Equal Tee, Reducing Tee and Unequal Tee.
- Reducer: Used for reducing pipe size. It has two types: concentric and eccentric Reducer
- Pipe Cap : Used to stop the flow or blind the pipeline, permanently or temporarily.
- Long and Short Stubends: Stub ends are integral components of Buttweld Fittings, which are used in conjunction with lap joint flanges to establish flanged connections. They are essentially short sections of pipe, one end of which is flared outwards, while the other end is prepared for welding to a pipe of the same nominal size, material, and similar wall thickness
- Bends: Bends are used to change the direction of the flow within the piping system. They are made from straight pipe and are commonly available in radii that are 3 and 5 times the nominal pipe size. There are two main types of bends: Long Radius (LR) and Short Radius (SR).
- Reducing Cross : A Reducing Cross in butt-weld fittings, also known as an unequal pipe cross, is a type of fitting that has four branch ends that are not of the same diameter. It is used for connecting four pipes, most of which have the same size, but the branch diameter is smaller than the main pipes. Reducing Cross fittings are preferred when pipes are connected at a 90-degree angle. Different types of Reducing Cross fittings are available depending on their bore sizes.
